The location was super convenient, just a short train ride away from Kyoto Central Station. We had a blast exploring the vibrant streets of Gion and checking out the epic Fushimi Inari Shrine. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the onsen-style baths were the perfect way to relax after a day of adventure!
The only thing we wished for was a cool lounge area where we could hang out and have some fun with fellow travelers. It would have been great to have a place to socialize and meet new people.

Convenient location - within walking distance of a subway station. Convenient for family. We got room with a bathtub...
Nothing to fault.

The hotel had a good location, close to transportation and restaurants. The room was clean and had all the basic amenities needed for a short stay. The staff was polite and helpful, providing us with a map and good recommendations for places to visit nearby.
The bed was quite uncomfortable and the pillows were too hard, resulting in a restless sleep. the Wi-Fi connection was poor and only available in the lobby, which was inconvenient and frustrating.

Convenient and affordable hotel close to Kyoto. I really enjoyed my stay at the conveniently located Yamashina Hotel Sanraku. The hotel is just a stop away from Kyoto central station, making it a great base for exploring the famous parts of Kansai. The rooms were spacious, and I loved the views of the station and the mountains. Despite being right in front of the station, the rooms were surprisingly quiet. I also appreciated the variety of Japanese foods offered at breakfast, including soy bean milk, tomato and fruit juice. I highly recommend this hotel for its location and comfortable accommodations.

I chose Yamashina Hotel Sanraku because of its location near the famous geisha district and the temple I wanted to visit. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the staff's around-the-clock advice and their ability to speak both English and Japanese. The variety of shampoos and hair conditioners at the Shampoo Bar was impressive, and the different shower heads, including a mist shower head and ones with a massage function, made my showers even more enjoyable. the restaurant "Fine Dining Yamashina" on the first floor offered a delicious buffet breakfast that incorporated a traditional Japanese multiple course meal.
Limited wifi availability.

The hotel had a great pricing deal and offered two complementary facts: a floor with a microwave and beer vending machine and an excellent buffet with many options. the hotel's key location was near a subway station that allowed easy access to Higashiyama, Gion, and the Manga museum. One of the greatest advantages was the large room that had a couch and a spacious bathroom.
The hotel lacked a safe for valuables, and the Wi-Fi was only available through a wired LAN cable. the hotel was located in a more suburban part of the city, where surrounding buildings were not as modern as those in central Kyoto.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location was absolutely perfect, as it was directly in front of the train station and there were plenty of dining options close by. The convenience of being just on top of the subway station made exploring the area a breeze. Plus, the fact that it was only about 300 m south of the JR station meant that I didn't have to walk far with my luggage. Another great aspect was that there was a Daimaru department store right next to the hotel, so I could easily do some shopping during my stay.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and comfortable stay with excellent service and amenities.

The Yamashina Hotel Sanraku in Kyoto offered a clean but small room, which is typical for hotels in Japan. The location is convenient, with the hotel being only 1 stop away from Kyoto, making it easy to explore the city. The rooms are impressive, with nice, very clean, large and comfortable rooms that exceeded my expectations for Japan.
While the room was comfortable, the breakfast options were limited. There was not much variety and the same dish was served every day.

Our stay at Yamashina Hotel Sanraku was just as we expected from the reviews we read. The hotel is indeed old and showing some wear and tear, but the room for 3 people was clean and comfortable, exactly like in the pictures. The staff was very attentive and the location was great for us, with easy access to the JR and subway stations. We enjoyed the convenience of being able to explore Kyoto easily, with attractions like Nanzenji Temple, Eikando Temple, and Gion within walking distance or just a few stops away on the subway. The shared indoor bath, open only for women, was a lovely addition to our stay. The breakfast buffet was delicious, especially the seasoned kelp that we couldn't resist bringing back home.

The hotel's location, just a stone's throw from the train station, is incredibly convenient for exploring the area. Despite its proximity to public transportation, the hotel feels far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city center. Guests rave about the excellent service provided by the friendly staff, who go above and beyond to make visitors feel at home. Rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with modern amenities and comfortable furnishings. Guests particularly enjoy the relaxing hot water bath.
While no major negatives stand out, some guests note that the breakfast offered by the hotel is a bit pricey, and recommend exploring other options in the area.
